On Thursday morning, 2nd October we boarded a plane and in 5h we landed in beautiful Ålesund, Norway. Located among small islands, it surprises almost everyone with its architecture and amazing landscape, which seems to be at fingertips.
Among many hours we spend discovering Møre & Romsdal region a few of the highlight were the island Runde where in the season one can enjoy , Godøya island with its breathtaking scenery and last but not least beautiful , listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we were a bit unfortunate with timing, the last ferry across the fjord left on 1st October, we only had a chance to admire its beauty from a viewing spot. At this time of the year it is deep autumn in Norway, nevertheless its rather gloomy weather and lack of ferry, it was worth the effort, more than 3h drive from Ålesund, to enjoy rather incredible Norwegian nature.
While in north, one cannot miss the opportunity to enjoy the incredible nordic cuisine. No doubt, Norway is well known for its high-quality seafood & fresh fish. In Ålesund we had a chance to try a few dishes which certainly proved the truth about Norwegian food. The local passion one can certainly find in Maki, renowned for its a la carte dining. Plus if you stay afterwards for a drink at Lounge or at Brosundet Bar, you will have a chance to enjoy a piece by Per Fronth; Dragonfly, we loved it.
